Guideline for Contributors

Language of the Workshop

The official language of the Workshop is English.

Session types

The workshop programme will be composed of different types of sessions. There will be oral presentations in special sessions and regular sessions, in which also the poster presentations associated with the session topic will be presented in short poster pitches. In addition, there will be invited keynote presentations and a moderated panel discussion with short impulse speeches.

Companies sponsoring the workshop will present their products and services throughout the workshop at booths in the coffee break and poster area, in tutorials/demos on the workshop day (Monday).

Poster presentations

Posters will be displayed throughout the workshop in two slots and will be located in the main foyer.

For all presenters of the first poster session (Tuesday 5.30 pm), please hang your poster on Monday or Tuesday morning on the poster board which will be assigned to you (small sheet with the number and the title of your contribution). Please remove your poster on Wednesday evening or Thursday early morning.

For all presenters of the second poster session (Thursday 5.30 pm), please hang your poster on Thursday morning on the poster board which will be assigned to you (small sheet with the number and the title of your contribution). Please remove the poster until Friday afternoon.

The preferred poster format is portrait A0 (max. 841 x 1189 mm). Sticky pads to hang the posters to the board will be available at the venue. There is no specific layout recommended.

For online-participants who have a poster contribution, we can offer to print out the poster for you and hang it during the poster session. You might want to add a QR code to a video that explains the content of your poster. In case you can only participate online, please send us the poster in PDF format until next Wednesday (24th of August) to nastasia.wolter@campus.tu-berlin.de

To give more visibility to the posters, authors will be asked to present their posters in short (1-3 min) poster pitches in the oral sessions associated with the session topic. For that, we ask poster presenters to prepare one (!) slide describing their poster, which highlights the topic of the poster and invites people to visit the poster. The one slide can be either the full poster as a PDF or a separate slide with the key information (recommended as the full poster will hardly be readable on the projector). The slides will be collected before the event and will be used for the poster pitches, included in the related sessions.

You can find the according slots for the posters here: https://www.forestsat2022.com/program/

Please attend these sessions so you can pitch your poster. All related sessions for the first poster session are on Tuesday and Wednesday. All related sessions for the second poster session are on Thursday and Friday.

Please send the completed slide in PDF format until next Wednesday (24th of August) to nastasia.wolter@campus.tu-berlin.de

Oral presentations

Oral presentations will usually be of 12 min length plus 3 minutes for questions and change over to the next speaker. The length of the presentations may vary in some sessions depending on the planned session format and the number of presentations. Please check the workshop programme or consult the session chair if unsure.

MS PowerPoint or PDF formats are preferred. Please upload your presentation as a PPT or PDF file directly to the presentation laptop in the lecture hall well before the start of the session. From 30 minutes before the start of the session, there will be technical staff on site to assist with this.

There is no specific layout recommended.

Attendance

We are planning the workshop as an in-person event with the limited possibility of a recorded streaming of the sessions. In case you do not want to publish your recorded presentation, please indicate so.

In the exceptional case of someone who cannot attend, there will be the possibility of pre-recorded talks. Please refer to the organisers in this case (forestsatberlin22@gmail.com).
